What We Should Be Standing and Fighting For as Christians
The Christian life is not a life of neutrality—it is a battleground. We are soldiers of Christ, not spectators. Paul commanded, “Endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ” (II Timothy 2:3). If there was ever a time for the people of God to stand up and fight for eternal truth, it is now. Here are ten things we must stand and fight for without apology or retreat.
1. The Souls of Men
Nothing in this world compares to the eternal value of a soul. Jesus said, “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” (Mark 8:36). We must weep for the lost, witness to the broken, and warn the indifferent.
The Great Commission is not a suggestion; it is a command:
“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations… Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you.” – Matthew 28:19–20
The Gospel of Jesus Christ prescribes the wisest rules for just conduct in every situation of life. – Benjamin Rush
The soul is the only thing you can’t touch that still outlives the flesh.
A heart that beats for Christ will always ache for the souls that don’t.
We cannot be casual about eternity. Souls are slipping into hell every day. Let us stand in the gap while there is still time.
2. The Authority of God’s Word
The Bible is not open to revision, reinterpretation, or replacement. It is forever settled in heaven. When we surrender our allegiance to the Word, we surrender our identity as believers.
“The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.” – Isaiah 40:8
“Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever.” – Psalm 119:160
It is impossible to rightly govern a nation without God and the Bible. – George Washington
When the Bible is closed, the door to deception is opened.
If the Bible is outdated, then so is truth, and truth never gets old.
We must be people of the Book. Our lives, churches, and decisions must be governed by Scripture—not emotion, not culture, and not convenience.
3. Biblical Morality and Purity
The world calls sin progress, but God still calls it sin. We are not here to blend in; we are here to stand out—living holy lives that reflect the purity of Christ.
“But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.” – I Peter 1:15–16
“This is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication.” – I Thessalonians 4:3
A nation’s greatness is measured by its righteousness. – Patrick Henry
Purity isn't outdated; it's just outnumbered.
Christians must fight to preserve and model biblical standards in their personal lives, in their homes, and in their communities.
4. The Sanctity of Life
Life begins at conception, not convenience. Every child in the womb bears the image of the Creator. To destroy that life is to defy the very hands that formed it.
“Thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” – Psalm 139:13–14
“Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.” – Psalm 127:3
All men are created equal, and endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life… – Declaration of Independence
The womb should be the safest place on earth, not the most dangerous.
Christians must be unapologetically pro-life. Not for politics’ sake—but for righteousness’ sake.
5. Religious Liberty
The freedom to worship God according to the Bible is a God-given right. When governments try to muzzle the Gospel or criminalize conviction, we must resist.
“Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free.” – Galatians 5:1
“We ought to obey God rather than men.” – Acts 5:29
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof…– First Amendment
When they silence the pulpit, they enslave the people.
Liberty without morality is chaos, but morality without liberty is tyranny.
Our forefathers bled for religious freedom. We must be willing to fight to keep it.
6. Godly Families and Strong Homes
A nation cannot be stronger than its families. When we lose the home, we lose the heart of society. Fathers must lead, mothers must nurture, and children must be taught the fear of God.
“Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it.” – Psalm 127:1
“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” – Proverbs 22:6
The foundation of national morality must be laid in private families. – John Adams
Strong homes make strong churches; strong churches make strong nations.
When the enemy can't destroy the church, he targets the family.
We must fight for the family with prayer, example, and unshakable commitment.
7. Righteous Leadership and Government
God ordained government, but He expects it to reflect His righteousness. Christians cannot disengage. We must vote, serve, and hold leaders accountable to truth.
“Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.” – Proverbs 14:34
“When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.” – Proverbs 29:2
When a citizen gives his suffrage to a man of known immorality, he abuses his trust. – Noah Webster
Silence in the voting booth is consent at the throne of evil.
If Christians abandon government, they invite godlessness to rule.
We must stand up for leaders who fear God and honor biblical principles.
8. Biblical Justice, Not Woke Justice
True justice is rooted in Scripture—not social trends. While we care for the poor and oppressed, we must reject ideologies that twist justice into revenge or class warfare.
“Open thy mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy.” – Proverbs 31:9
“To do justice and judgment is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice.” – Proverbs 21:3
Justice is the end of government. It is the end of civil society. – James Madison
Justice without truth is just noise.
If your justice needs to ignore the Bible, it’s not justice—it’s vengeance in disguise.
Let us love mercy, walk humbly, and fight for justice as defined by God—not by activists.
9. The Unity of the Church
The enemy wins when the body of Christ is divided. While we never compromise truth, we must seek Spirit-led unity among true believers.
“That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another.” – I Corinthians 12:25
“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!” – Psalm 133:1
The religion which has introduced civil liberty is the religion of Christ and His apostles. – John Quincy Adams
When the church fights each other, Satan doesn’t have to.
Unity is not sameness—it is oneness of spirit around the truth.
We must guard the unity of the church with love, humility, and biblical conviction.
10. The Return of Christ
Christ is coming. That is not just a promise—it is a reality. Our hope is not in politics, economics, or comfort. Our hope is in the soon return of our King.
“Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ.” – Titus 2:13
“Be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.” – Matthew 24:44
I have lived, Sir, a long time, and the longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this truth—that God governs in the affairs of men. – Benjamin Franklin
We don’t fight for victory; we fight from victory.
The King is coming—so live like the gates of heaven are about to open.
Let us not grow weary. The trumpet will sound. Let Him find us faithful.
The time to stand is now. The time to fight is now. As the old hymn says, “Stand up, stand up for Jesus, ye soldiers of the cross!” The world may mock, but eternity will remember.
Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong. – I Corinthians 16:13
